3edata offers forest cover data collection and processing services with the aim of generating products useful in forest planning works, forest management projects or stock valuation at forest level (cubication).

The final product includes a map with the delimitation of the area occupied by each tree species, as well as the area occupied by shrub and herbaceous formations. Depending on the characteristics of each project, the coverage classification works employ mixed systems of manual photo-interpretation and the use of Artificial Intelligence for the automatic classification of multispectral images.

The resulting map integrates the previous reference layers that are necessary for the correct definition of the timber area (tracks, roads, constructions, fire defence infrastructures). Within the tree cover class, the area occupied by the dominant species is identified, thus differentiating each tree stratum.

After the identification of the area occupied by a given species, the service includes the capture and processing of LiDAR data with the aim of defining the timber volume of each stand. 3edata collaborates with different forestry research groups for the development of stand and individual tree models. These models are specific for each productive forest species (Pinus spp. and Eucalyptus spp.) and for a given territory.

The resulting product is a classification of the forest property according to its cover and timber volume (m3). The cubic values are accompanied by maps of vegetation height and stand distribution. In terms of accuracy, the maximum permissible error is 10% of the final volume after felling. The results can be grouped at forest level or at cadastral parcel level.
